Alguna supports a wide range variety of product types and payment terms, including fixed and metered products, one-off and recurring billing, and paying in advance or in arrears. To create a product, go to the Products page in the dashboard and click the New Product button.

From here, you can configure the name of your product, as well as the pricing type.

Fee Types

Alguna supports two types of fees: fixed and metered. Fixed fees are fees that don’t change between billing periods. You might use this to configure a monthly subscription or platform fee. Metered fees are fees that are calculated based on usage, for example if you’re charging per API request or per token used.

For fixed fees, you can configure additional options such as the payment terms and the billing frequency.

Payment Terms

Alguna supports products being charged in both advance and arrears. Advance products are charged at the start of the billing period, and arrears products are charged at the end of the billing period. For metered products, the Payment Terms will always be charged in arrears as they are calculated based on usage.

Billing Frequency

The billing frequency is can either be Recurring or One-off. Recurring products will be charged every billing period, and one-off products will only be charged once.

Creating Metrics

If you’re creating a metered product, you’ll need to create a metric to track usage. You can do this by navigating to the Billable Metrics page and clicking the “New Metric” button.

  1. Give your metric a name and a description so you can easily identify it.
